| ABOUT US At Aurea we pride ourselves on constantly discovering originality and creativity in the artisans of the world. Twelve years ago, Aurea was inaugurated. The idea came out of the owner’s passion for collecting beads from all over the world; with these beads she created necklaces all her friends admired. This led to home exhibitions of her pieces. During this time, a journalist friend introduced her to Union Station, and Aurea was born. All of us at Aurea invite you to browse through our site and experience a little of the unique beauty. We have handcrafted necklaces, earrings and bracelets of African and Baltic amber beads interspersed with sterling silver, and 14kt and 18kt yellow gold replicas of antique Indian jewelry. Many of these gold beads are wax filled and are made in the ancient way of “cere perdeu” or ‘lost wax process’, a system used in Africa, India and South America hundreds of years ago. Polished and unpolished stones adorn silver and gold items to form necklaces, earrings, and bracelets. Polished as well as faceted rubies, sapphires, emeralds, tanzanite, peridot, amethyst, citrine, tourmaline, chalsedony, blue topaz, aquamarine and many others are presented as briolette necklaces of one or more strands and sometimes combined with fresh water pearls, of different shapes and colors. We use coin fresh water pearls, faceted fresh water pearls, biwa pearls, mabe blister pearls combined with cabochon lapis lazuli, agates, carnelian, malachite, citrine and other semi-precious new stones of excellent quality like the lovely light green versivenite.
